Hide AdColin, of Dalton Road, said he was the only one with signal so he rang the police. Within 20 minutes, a council worker arrived at the scene and managed to wrangle the snake into a bin bag.
Colin said, “It was complete Monty Python. Really very strange.”
But he said, despite the bizarre situation, it was concerning, “It was big enough I reckon, this could have gobbled up a newborn baby. It’s a dangerous thing.
“I think people need to laugh in today’s climate but it’s a serious issue, I think police need to be looking into this.
“The hero is the man who took it away.”

The reptile would have died quite quickly if it had not been found due to the temperature being too cold, a spokesperson said. They thanked Colin for reporting it.
According to the council, the snake is now being looked after by a reptile specialist.
