Youth groupplay Worthing
Karl Jenkins is known for pieces such as Adiemus and The Armed Man. His music is a contemporary mix of jazz rhythms, classical harmonies and haunting melodies.
In 2005 John Gibbons conducted the Sussex premiere of Karl Jenkins’ Requiem in Lancing College Chapel and then in 2010 led more than 900 schoolchildren in a performance at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

Hide AdThe Worthing concert sees him return to Jenkins’ works and place them alongside one of the greatest symphonies of the nineteenth century, Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E Minor.
Jenkins’ pieces included in the concert will be Palladio, a modern take on the music of Vivaldi, his Passacaglia and A Song Sequence which is John Gibbons’ new reworking of popular solos from Karl’s choral works.
The West Sussex County Youth Orchestra, who perform the full concert, is the most advanced ensemble created by the West Sussex Music Service.
The music service is responsible for musical education in schools across Sussex and the orchestra provides opportunities for players of grade seven standard and above who successfully audition to take part in concert tours at home and abroad, giving the experience of working in professional settings and performing on the world-stage.
