Brighton II 16, Haywards Heath 8: Promotion ambitions hit a bump

There were some frustrating decisions from the officials including a disallowed try and Heath lost two influential players to serious injuries that kept them in A&E for many hours Saturday evening (broken ankle and broken shoulder), however Heath only have themselves to blame.
Despite a penalty from Peter Kerrins and a try from captain Casey Calder, Heath could not respond to the ferocity of Brighton’s commitment and persistent pressure and they lost to the better team on the day. This was Heath’s first loss since the very first match of the season and although maintaining a winning run of 10 games is always tough and brings its own pressures, it seems that the Christmas/New Year layoff and lack of real game time affected the Heath performance. The Heath 1st XV squad will be looking to put on an improved display against Hove II next Saturday as they again travel south for what is sure to be a tough encounter, made all the more challenging by this recent result.

A great result for this squad who are enjoying their rugby and extend a warm welcome to new players and anyone thinking about dusting off their boots and getting back on the rugby pitch at any point during the season.
