Bosham’s big cricket game takes them nearer pavilion dream
The bats were swinging, the banter began and the umpires practised their moves.
Barely had the chairs been filled and the cakes displayed when the game commenced and the first wicket fell. It was the best of village cricket - spirited, amusing and so much fun.

Seven hours later the stumps were drawn and the raffle took place. An incredible £2,568 had been raised.
As with all fundraising events, the work that went on before the day and behind the scenes was immense. A huge thank-you went to all those who contributed, especially for the village support in the raffle and on the day.
The money is going towards a pavilion to serve the club’s new ground. To date they’ve had to use a pub for facilities and make do with cold teas or a barbecue.

Hide AdClub chairman Rory Gogarty said: “I want to thank all the volunteers, those who sold and bought raffle tickets, the donors of our prizes, the spectators and players, all of whom made it such a special day.
“Sunday’s fundraising match was the culmination of what has been a very successful season for the club. We have attracted enthusiastic new members and volunteers and re-started our weekly juniors’ training sessions. Our website – www.boshamcc.co.uk – is much improved and I am delighted we are now playing regular cricket again in Bosham.”
