Lindfield Cricket Club lose James Pearce but gain Kiwi Max
The additions of Simon Shivnarain from Roffey and Chris Sawyer, who has moved to the area from Essex, should help compensate for the losses and the Club is still working on a couple of other potential recruits as we go to press. It is also hoped that some of the younger players from the successful 2014 2nd XI will also be pushing for places in the early part of the season.
Overseas
The Club is delighted to welcome Max O’Dowd from New Zealand. Max plays his club cricket in Auckland where he has also represented the Auckland A side. He has previous UK experience and played a number of games for Nottinghamshire 2nd XI in 2014. A right hand bat and off break bowler, Max will also be coaching the academy teams at Lindfield.

Key Player
The team’s strength has been built around its team spirit and never give-up attitude and this will be tested again in 2015. Last season everyone contributed towards the club’s success and while plenty is expected of Max O’Dowd, the hope will be that the blend of experience and potential that the squad has should serve the Club well. It is hoped that the likes of Geoffrey Lawrence, Vince Lawson and Tom Howard will make important contributions this season as they represent the future for the Club.
Club as a whole
Last season was arguably the most successful in the Club’s history. The 1st XI finished in its highest ever position, the 2nd XI won its league and the 3rd XI were also promoted (to Division 2 of the Mid Sussex League). The Saturday 4th XI proved a competitive force in its league and provides a great vehicle to help introduce a number of the youngsters that the Club’s 200 strong Academy section is producing. Sundays also sees action on The Common with a social Sunday XI turning out most weeks.
The Academy section is now recognised as one of the best in the County and it is hoped that it will continue to develop the Lindfield stars of the future. Things are certainly looking promising if last season’s Under 12s are anything to go by, having won the treble, including Junior Cricket Festival Final victory over Preston Nomads and County T20 Champions League Final victory over Eastbourne at the County Ground, Hove.
