'Gareth Southgate must call Tariq Lamptey up before Ghana do!' Brighton fans buzzing after Newcastle victory
Tariq Lamptey was brilliant as Albion as Neil Maupay’s double and a late third goal from Aaron Connolly clinched a well deserved 3-0 win for the Seagulls on Tyneside, but it was 19-year-old wing-back Lamptey who lit up an empty St James’ Park.
He won the early penalty from which Maupay opened the scoring and troubled Allan Saint-Maximin and Jamal Lewis down the Magpies left before producing a potentially goal-saving tackle at the other end to keep the home side on the back foot.

Hide Ad@WarrenBHAFC I can't remember a more confident, dominant performance where we scored three and hit the post twice since going up. I'm getting old and my memory is poor, but 79-83 I'm sure there were few if any games where #bhafc were *that* good.
@robin35311 Imagine if Chelsea weren’t so trigger happy with letting players go...de Bruyne, Salah and now Lamptey. With all that money they could have bought 5 Kepa’s #bhafc
@Gazcumps Tell you what, as bad as what we #nufc were today #bhafc have an absolute gem on their hands with Lamptey.
@WarrenBHAFC Match reports in press fairly unanimous that Lamptey MoM, Chelsea mad to have let him go, now worth £30m, and that Southgate needs to call him up before Ghana do. #BHAFC

Hide Ad@PlannerMarj I was impressed with Lamptey on Monday night (when he rinsed Alonso a few times) and even more so today. Looks like he could be a very good player. Absolutely rapid and superb work rate. #BHAFC
@colincurryer I know Lamptey was excellent (again) but a word for Maupay who scored twice and set up the third. Gotta feel hard done by not getting MotM after that! #bhafc
@SeagullsCentral Overall, an absolutely brilliant game & a great way to kickstart #BHAFC’s PL season. ⚽️ Albion dominated chances, possession, physicality all game & were crucially able to work through the stages of the game where the balance shifted. Connolly & Maupay up and running too!
@MagpieChannel_ Bruce did a copy & paste job from West ham last week & hoped for the best. No homework on #BHAFC style or tactics. Playing injured players AGAIN! ASM clearly not physically or mentally fit. Poor from our players today as well. Embarrassing come down to earth for #NUFC.
