Second-placed Brighton were swept aside by the Whites in front of 29,767 at Elland Road, courtesy of a Chris Wood double.
However, Chris Hughton’s men quickly dusted themselves down to mount a five-match winning run and seal automatic promotion to the top-flight.
Of course, a lot has changed since then – managers, players and league status, with both sides now proud members of the Premier League.
As a bit of nostalgia, we’ve looked back on that 2-0 defeat for Brighton, four years ago, to find out where each player who featured for Albion that day is now.
1. David Stockdale
The Leeds-born goalkeeper twice joined Wycombe Wanderers on emergency loan (2018 & 2020) before signing a one-year deal with the Buckinghamshire club following his release from Birmingham City last summer. Photo: Julian Finney
2. Fikayo Tomori
Brighton was one of three loan destinations for Tomori before he broke into the Chelsea first-team last season. Unfortunately in 2020/21, he’s been unable to hold down his place and looks set to leave on loan this month. Photo: Dan Istitene
3. Uwe Hunemeier
The German returned to SC Paderborn following three seasons on the South Coast. He’s a regular starter for the Bundesliga 2 side and has even developed an eye for goal after scoring twice against Jahn Regensburg earlier in the season. Photo: Dan Istitene
