Former England schoolboy international Simon Johnson completed his move to the U’s from Maidstone United yesterday morning.
United manager Garry Wilson and assistant Danny Bloor feel this is a high quality signing, and the midfielder will be eligible for the third round qualifying tie at home to Poole Town.

Hide AdAs reported by www.maidstoneunited.co.uk, Johnson came through the youth ranks at Eastbourne Borough and broke into the first team in the latter part of 2008 after a successful spell with the reserves.
The 24-year-old made his Borough debut in the then Conference Premier and stayed at Priory Lane after the club’s relegation to Conference South.
Johnson, who made six appearances for England Schoolboys during the 2008/09 season, joined Maidstone - who also play in Conference South - this summer.
United play their football two levels further down the non-league pyramid than the Stones in Ryman Football League Division One South. Today’s game against Poole will kick-off at 3pm.
