Hide AdReds boss Dermot Drummy fielded nine of his new signings plus eight trialists as he put out a completely different side in each half.
The trialists on show included former Chelsea midfielder Clifford, ex-Crystal Palace and Manchester City striker Fisayo Adarabioya and former Arsenal and Tottenham centre back Andre Blackman.
Crawley charged into a 2-0 lead after just eight minutes, starting in the third minute when Jimmy Smith played Clifford through and he scored at the second attempt.
Adarabioya then scored their second, taking over from Roberts and netting into an open goal.

Hide AdGrinstead then pulled one back for 2-1 through an Aiden Hayes shot from short-range after a free-kick was only partly cleared.
Roberts curled in a spectacular goal from a free-kick and Smith made it 4-1 at half-time with a calmly-taken penalty after the lively Enzio Boldeweijn was brought down having gone on a run from the right into the area.
Meanwhile at the other end, former new signing Mark Connolly (ex-Kilmarnock) made a superb block to deny Grinstead striker Trevor McCreadie.
For the second half Drummy fielded an entirely different 11, with Young coming on and scoring the first of his three goals with a nice shot from Banton’s squared ball.

Bobson Bawling was the striker for the second half and following some good pace. With a one-two he set-up Young for his second goal which he scuffed but rolled into the net to the right of keeper Milan Stojsavljevic.
Grinstead’s Healy made it 6-2 with a goal tapped-in from a corner.
Young then scored possibly the best goal of the game when he volleyed in Banton’s cross.
