Brilliant Ben second in Italy
The Staplecross-based talent was part of a three-way tie for second place at the Friuli Venezia Giulia Open in Italy with a 13-under-par three-round total of 203.
Evans was the only player in the field to card three sub-70 rounds at Golf Club Grado. He began with a three-under 69 on Thursday and strengthened his position with a 66 on Friday before closing with a 68 the following day.

Hide AdHe finished alongside Austrian golfer Lukas Nemecz and Raphael Marguery, the French player who led after the first and second rounds. The event was won by Englishman Jason Palmer, who carded a final round 66 having been tied with Evans going into the last 18 holes.
Evans, from Rye and Sedlescombe Golf Clubs, moves up to 13th on the Alps Tour order of merit with 4,730.00 points from four events. The Alps Tour is a developmental golf circuit which feeds into the European Challenge Tour.
Twenty-six-year-old Evans, who came tied eighth in last week’s 2013 Umbria Open, spent five seasons on the Challenge Tour from 2008 before losing his playing privileges at the end of last year.
