Festive fun in 1965 – but who were these children?

That was all months away and they had the important business of Christmas to get out of the way first.
The pictures were all taken in December 1965 and published in the County Times in January 1966.

Hide AdThe first picture shows Father Christmas handing out presents to children at Forest Hospital. Money for the presents was raised by patrons at the Lambs Inn.
Next we have children enjoying a Christmas tea at St Mary’s Hall. Tea was served by Peggy Henley (leader of St Mark’s Young Wives) and the Rev Alfred Jones (curate of St Mark’s).
And finally, we have young churchgoers and their friends, from Washington, near Pulborough, providing some Western musical entertainment one dark winter evening.
