13-year-old Chichester swimmer scoops 2 gold medals in national virtual gala

More than 16,000 swimmers from 430 swim clubs across the country took part in Swim England’s Level X Racing Series 1 between October and December.
Bishop Luffa School student Hannah Day took gold in the 50-metre and 200-metre breaststroke races in her age category, as well as a silver in the 100-metre breaststroke.

Hide AdHannah is currently a member of Guildford City Swimming Club and also swims with Chichester Cormorants at Westgate Leisure Centre.
The 13-year-old has been swimming competitively since she was eight years old and for the last two years has been on Swim England’s Talent Pathway, a programme designed for swimmers who hope to compete at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Hannah, who lives in Hambrook with her family, said: “Being unable to swim and train at the moment is very hard.
“I love to swim and miss the water but I am working hard on my fitness with different forms of land training until pools are able to open again.”

Hide AdWith all major swimming competitions shelved due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Level X events allow swimmers to compete within their club training environment with their times collated and ranked nationally.
Series 2 of Level X Racing was due to start on January 4, but is currently suspended until pools can reopen.
