Heath beat East Grinstead 3-0 and then faced Crowborough. Heath defended tenaciously and out rucked the opposition every time so their superior possession meant Heath should have had the upper hand, yet Crowborough’s blitz defence thwarted the attacks so it was 0-0 at half time. In the second half Heath changed tactics and kicked behind the opposition to gain territory and with some more excellent rucking and counter rucking Heath turned the ball over and scored the winning try with fast team hands and even faster legs. A great contest and a great 1-0 win.
Hellingly was next and Heath raced into a 4-0 lead at half time with some ferocious rucking and lovely support play. Sadly the second half saw a dip in focus and two missed tackles allowed the Hellingly prop to crash through to score two well-deserved, yet consolation tries. The 4-2 win left Heath as Pool winners and the final game was against a strong Lewes team which had narrowly won their pool from Pulborough and a competitive Barbarians team.

Hide AdLewes always play their rugby with intensity but the Heath U12s out rucked them, being lower and faster into contact and working well as a ball-winning unit. With some fast hands sending the ball out wide when the space was won, Heath ran in four tries and conceded none in a wonderful match to be crowned festival winners. However it was the manner of the performances and the mix of the team’s players, some of whom are still new to either rugby or the squad or both, that impressed coaches of all Clubs who were generous and fulsome in their praise for the Heath style of play.
