Wales 7s debut a proud moment for McLean
McLean was part of the Wales FIRA 7s squad – his first call-up for the team – for the first leg of the European Series in Lyon, France, at the weekend.
Although Wales lost all three of their group games, they progressed to the Bowl final, where they were beaten by Italy.

Hide AdMcLean admitted the weekend was a great experience and he may now have an outside chance of making the Wales 7s Commonwealth Games team, although he admits that is not something he is expecting.
The 28-year-old said: “It was a massive occasion for me and was something I’ve always wanted to do.
“I’ve played 7s all of my career and one of my main goals was always to represent Wales, so it was a massive overwhelming feeling of pride.
“I can’t quite describe the feeling. The build-up was quite relaxed and then, all of a sudden, you’re thrust into the action before you’ve had a chance to take it all in.
“It was a proud moment for me and it was a good weekend, although it was very tough.”
