Saxons have won 10 and drawn one of their first 11 Sussex Open Hockey League Division One matches to sit six points clear at the top of the table going into the festive break.
Busbridge said: “I can’t quite believe it. It’s been really good, we’re all enjoying our hockey and working as a team - and long may it continue.

Saxons’ next league game is away to fourth-placed Horsham II on January 16, and Busbridge believes that and a subsequent trip to fifth-placed Hailsham will be key fixtures.
Saxons will be at home to second-placed Penguin - the only team they’ve not beaten so far - and third-placed Southwick during the second half of the campaign.
“We’ve got a few games before we meet Penguins again. The key is to keep getting maximum points until then so that we’ve got a cushion,” added Busbridge, who will miss the Horsham clash due to a skiiing holiday.
