Sell-out field tackles triathlon
With a total prize pool of more than £1,500 up for grabs, some of the UK’s highest quality athletes turned out to battle for the top positions and the racing didn’t disappoint.
Colin Dixon, winner of the inaugural Bexhill Triathlon in 2009, again dominated the men’s race, finishing in one hour and six minutes - more than two-and-a-half minutes ahead of runner-up Sam Wade. Third spot went to Stuart Sorrell, of Eastbourne-based Bodyworks XTC.

Hide AdIn the women’s race, Bodywork XTC athletes also took the top two spots. The 2010 Ironman UK champion Yvette Grice led throughout to win for the third consecutive year in 1:14:40. Sussex Triathlon winner Emma Richards was second
with Team Lifestyle athlete Susie Casebourne third.
The Jamie Hanney Trophy for the highest placed Bexhill athlete was awarded to Simon Casebourne of Team Lifestyle, who performed strongly throughout to come sixth overall in 1:12:41. Susie Casebourne and Lee Holdaway, also Team Lifestyle athletes, took the prizes for second and third local athletes.
Strong winds and currents made for a tough 500m sea swim - by the Sovereign Light Café on West Parade - with many competitors being taken off course. The 25km bike then went out to Pevensey and back with the final 5km run along the seafront.
