“I just felt having secured promotion last year and with the club in a strong and settled position, now was as good a time as any to stand aside and let someone else take things on with a fresh approach.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time leading the club and I’m sure it’s something I’ll come back to again in the future. Last year’s promotion was most definitely a highlight and my most enjoyable year as skipper.
“We had a relatively inexperienced side, but a really positive atmosphere and lads that wanted to play for each other, in addition to the X factor we had with Akeem Jordan, who once again will be returning for us in May 2017.”

Thorne added: “I pass over the reigns to Tom Filby who had a tremendous second half of the season last year with both bat and ball having missed the first half of the season, and he’s keen and looking forward to the challenge.
“First and foremost Tom is a really top lad in addition to being a fantastic cricketer, he’s very positive, great with our younger lads, and encourages everyone around him. Everyone will be looking forward to playing for him.
“I’ll still be around in a playing capacity as much as possible, in what will no doubt be a difficult Division 4 this year.”
