We have set this much-loved play in 2016, where it tells the story of two young people in a violent world – just as it did in 1595. The plot unfolds at a tremendous pace and fans the flames of the ancient grudge between the feuding Capulets and Montagues. These quarrels are petty, but inevitably bring danger and misery where there should be happiness and hope.
Like teenagers everywhere, the lovers and their friends are impatient and passionate, they lie to their parents and challenge authority. But the story reveals how the older protagonists have much to learn from the young.
