Battle gig for quirky artist Oliver Cherer
In 2000 he side-stepped into making quiet, beatless music for reflection and contemplation, and working as Dollboy he released increasingly acoustic records. Since then his sound has morphed and flowed from still electronic water music to electric psychedelic wig-out, but always with unabashed English sensibility and clear love of melody. Reviews often name check Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayres and Eno.
Last year’s “Sir Ollife Leigh And Other Ghosts” saw Oliver’s debut under his own name and further development of a gothic, folky, radiophonic sound producing an album already talked about as a classic and which was a favourite of Lauren Laverne, Gideon Coe and others on BBC 6Music.
Now based in St Leonards this is a rare chance to see an critically acclaimed artist in a intimate acoustic setting. Tickets £10 from www.mrsy.co.uk or 07794821454
