He was raising money for new charity Get Home Safe, started in memory of a 23-year-old university friend, who was fatally struck by a car on his way home from a night out earlier in the year.
Mr Yallop will make donations to both charities.
He nominated businessmen Phil Duckett and Andy Sparsis, Herald editor in chief Gary Shipton and Adur Council leader Neil Parkin to do the challenge, too.
Later this afternoon, councillor Clive Roberts will take part in the challenge, using water from Brooklands lake.
