Huge delays following diesel spill in Barnham
MOTORISTS in Barnham faced severe delays after a huge diesel spill closed off one of the village’s busiest roads for hours yesterday (Thursday, August 7).
Shortly before 11am, firefighters from Littlehampton were called to Yapton Road.
A lorry, which had hit a bollard, leaked approximately 175 litres of diesel onto the highway.

Hide AdTraffic was diverted through Lake Lane, with motorists facing heavy delays and ‘bumper-to-bumper’ queues.
Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment in an attempt to stem the leak from the stricken vehicle while police directed traffic.
Sand was used to soak up the spilt fuel. Emergency crews left the scene at 2.09pm but diversions remained in place overnight.
