School uniforms prove a great leveller for pupils
Compared with last year, they all look so much more grown up. The girls look like young businesswomen and the boys look like serious students.
When I was at secondary school, back in the 1960s, we were given the option of doing away with uniforms. The senior pupils voted to keep the uniform as it was a great "leveller".

Hide AdIt meant that pupils from both rich and poor backgrounds were dressed the same '“ no one was at a disadvantage.
But does the fact that Littlehampton Academy students are dressed the same take away their individuality? No, it shows us how very special each and every one is.
