Redevelopment of a home near the ruins of a medieval castle has been approved by the council.

A bid to convert the derelict Castle House, off Broadwater Lane near the Sedgwick Castle site, into a five-bedroom house was approved by Horsham District Council’s Development Control North Committee on Tuesday August 2.

Applicant Robin Nugent explained that the existing property, built to provide storage facilities and to receive day visitors to the castle grounds, had seen 15 arrests for criminal activity and more than 200 responses from the 999 services in the past 11 years.
