Two arrested in connection with £2,500 bag snatch in town centre

Police hunting a pair of bag-snatchers who stole £2,500 from a local businesswoman have arrested two men.

The theft occured just before 1pm on Tuesday, when the woman left Barclays Bank in Devonshire Road with the money in a green plastic bag.

The first man, described as black and in his mid-to-late twenties, snatched the bag and ran down Parkhurst Road into Sackville Road, where a passer-by saw him get into a silver blue Rover saloon car driven by the second man.
