Hide AdChichester’s new recruit, Adrian Waller, played Olli Tuominen. There was little to choose between the two, ranked 26 and 27 in the world.
A bitty game ensued with Tuominen making every effort to break Waller’s rhythm and stop Chichester completing a crushing victory.
The match went to five games and Waller clung on to win the decider 11-8 to give Chichester an outstanding win and put them top of the southern section of the league, a point ahead of current champions Surrey.
The next match is at home on Tuesday, November 25, against St George’s Hill and tickets are on sale on 01243 785664.
