Bognor miss out at Littlehampton - but only just
Again with juniors in the side, Bognor’s Calum Porter at No5 overcame the challenge of Nick Cochrane who had levelled at 2-2 only for t Porter to maintain concentration winning 13-15, 15-5, 15-12, 10-15, 15-9.
Fourth string for the visitors was another junior, Ethan Randell, who had his recent run of success halted by Richard Stacey, who won a close match in straight games 15-12, 15-12, 15-11 to put Littlehampton level.

Hide AdThen Bognor captain Steve Carruthers, in his first match since November, won a long first against Ashley Squires but the home No3 responded and took the next three to win 15-17, 15-11, 15-9, 15-4.
Zoe Shardlow was Bognor’s No2 and she had a five-setter playing John Marston. Both gave their all in a close tie but the Littlehampton second string had the edge in the decider, winning 15-11, 15-17, 15-7, 7-15, 15-8.
In the top string contest another five-game match ended with victory for Bognor’s Jon Corke, who beat Phil Stacey 15-10, 13-15, 15-8, 15-17, 15-8, a result which left Littlehampton 3-2 winners on the night and taking 18 points to Bognor’s nine.
Bognor remain well in touch in third place in division three west with a match in hand.
